Commissions & Reproductions

I am happy to create commissioned pieces or reproductions upon request.

When it comes to reproducing existing artworks, it’s important to understand the legal guidelines:

  • Public Domain Works
Many famous paintings—such as those by Van Gogh, Monet, Klimt, and other artists who passed away more than 70 years ago—are in the public domain. These works are no longer under copyright, which means I can legally reproduce them and you are free to enjoy or even resell the finished piece.

  • Copyrighted Works
If the artist is still alive, or has passed away less than 70 years ago, their artwork is still protected by copyright law. In those cases, I cannot legally make a reproduction for sale unless the copyright holder gives permission.

  • Personal Use Copies
I can create reproductions of copyrighted works for your personal enjoyment and practice, but they cannot be sold, displayed publicly, or used commercially without permission from the copyright holder.

  • Transformative Works
If you’d like me to create something inspired by a famous painting—adding my own interpretation, style, or changes—that may fall under “transformative use.” However, this area of copyright law is complex, so I always take care to ensure that the finished work is respectful, original, and legally sound.
